    See it in action

The Akari D Series Pendant Lamp produces a quality of light that most that ordinary fixtures never manage to achieve. Japanese Washi paper — translucent, fibrous, and slightly irregular — it diffuses the bulb’s light into something that feels less like electricity and more natural light arriving from no specific direction. The room softens. The ceiling recedes. Whatever is beneath the lamp becomes the only thing in the space.

An icon of mid-century Japanese modernism, renewed in five sizes for rooms that deserve something this carefully designed.

Why Washi paper — and what it does to light Washi is handmade Japanese paper made from long plant fibers — mulberry, bamboo or hemp — giving it a natural translucency and a subtle visible texture when the lamp is on. Unlike synthetic diffusers, Washi does not produce a glare uniform: the distribution of the fibers creates micro-variations across the surface that change slightly as you move around the lamp. The result is a light that seems alive in a way that plastic and acrylic diffusers cannot match.
    What Akari D does
🌕 Washi paper diffusion The paper’s natural fibrous structure distributes the bulb’s output across its entire surface without any visible source — a soft glow, even that appears proportionally larger than its proportions suggest the lamp’s physical dimensions.
🌾 Iron wire structure The underlying structure is made of iron wire — a frame that maintains the shape of the paper without adding visual weight. From below, the lamp appears almost entirely made of paper: light, organic, e impossibilmente risolta.
🔆 and impossibly resolved. Dimmer-compatible At full brightness, the Washi glows with a clean warmth that fills a room. Dimmed down, it becomes something closer to a lantern — intimate, quiet, present. Pair it with a dimmer switch
