The Akari Juni Pendant Lamp is the kind of light that makes a room
quieter. Handcrafted rice paper stretched over a bamboo frame — a single
large sculptural form that contains the bulb and diffuses it into a warm, soft glow,
without direction. No hard edges. No bright center. Just light that spreads softly
outward and makes every surface in the room feel warmer than before.
The lamp that changes how a room feels, not just its brightness.

Where It Belongs
🛏Bedroom
Hung above the bed, the Juni replaces overhead lighting with something that encourages rest — the diffused glow is warm enough for reading, soft enough for falling asleep.

🛋Living Room
As the main lamp above a coffee table or seating area, the Juni provides the room with a central visual anchor — a sculptural white volume that organizes the space around it.
Visual Anchor
🍽Dining Room
The even diffusion of rice paper means every face at the table is illuminated softly and evenly — no harsh shadows, no bright center competing with the meal. A lamp designed for conversation.
Soft, Even Output
Better in Multiples
×2
Two Junis — a composed ceiling arrangement.
Two pendant lamps hung at different heights create a layered composition — the white forms read as a deliberate sculptural statement rather than a single light source. Overlapping pools of soft light fill the room more completely than one lamp. Hang at staggered heights for asymmetry, or at the same height for a formal pair.
How It’s Made
📄Handcrafted Rice Paper
Washi-inspired rice paper stretched by hand over the frame — every lamp is unique. Thin enough to let the warm light pass through, yet structured enough to maintain its elongated shape without sagging.
🪶Bamboo Structure
Lightweight, flexible, and durable — the internal bamboo structure maintains the lamp’s sculptural form for decades of use. It gives the lamp its characteristic light translucency along the edges.
📐Sculptural Proportion
At 47 cm wide and 82 cm tall, the Juni is intentionally elongated — a vertical form that draws the eye upward and gives rooms with high ceilings a fixture that meaningfully occupies the vertical space.
↗Ready for Sloped Ceilings
Fits sloped ceilings up to 30° — the lamp hangs straight regardless of the ceiling angle. An adjustable 59-inch cord works for standard rooms and high ceilings.
🕯Candlelight + Dimmer
The Juni’s rice paper shade naturally pairs with candlelight — both produce warm, undirected light. A dimmer set low and a few candles beneath create a room that feels genuinely restorative.
Atmospheric Pairing
🌿Natural Materials
Bamboo and rice paper naturally complement linen, rattan, raw wood, and stone. The lamp belongs in rooms that use natural materials as a design language — it looks perfect next to a raw oak dining table.
Material Harmony
💡Warm LED Bulb
Use a warm-toned 2700–3000K LED bulb to get the most from the rice paper’s diffusion — the paper transforms cooler light into something amber and alive. The right bulb makes the difference between good and transformative.
