The Akari Juni Pendant Lamp is handmade from rice paper and bamboo silk, and when lit, the entire surface seems to glow. It's not a point of light. It's a presence.

Why rice paper? Rice paper has been used in the production of Japanese lanterns for centuries — not because of its cost, but because nothing else diffuses light in quite the same way. It scatters the bulb's light in every direction simultaneously, filling the room with soft, even illumination that creates almost no shadows. The bamboo silk structure gives the Juni its elongated sculptural form while remaining light light enough to hang from any standard ceiling hook.
