Hand-Worked Iron Mesh · Rust Patina · Industrial-Loft Pendant Lamp

A rustic-industrial mesh pendant lamp in the vocabulary of a reclaimed warehouse — a hand-worked iron mesh sphere finished in coffee-toned rust patina, inspired by the cage-lamp tradition of 20th-century American factory and farm lighting. Suitable for kitchen islands, breakfast nooks, main entry foyers, and reading corners in large rooms over 5,000 square feet and luxury hotels — and designed to be grouped at staggered heights above long islands and dining tables.

    Please Note — Updated Finish

The current production finish is lighter than the older catalog images. Following production refinements, the rust patina now appears slightly whiter and brighter than in some earlier photographs. The reference image below represents what you will receive. Tonal variation between individual pieces is expected and is part of the hand-finished character.

    Installation

    • A licensed electrician is required. Hardwired ceiling light through the supplied canopy and 59″ cable.
    • All mounting hardware and the 59″ / 150 cm cable are included; the cable can be shortened on site to fit your ceiling.
    • For cluster installations, hang at staggered drops 30–50 cm apart center-to-center from separate ceiling outlets or a multi-port cluster canopy.
    • Bulbs are supplied by the installer — LED E26 / E27 at 2700K. Vintage Edison filament bulbs cast patterned light through the mesh.
    • Maintenance: dust with a soft brush or feather duster; vacuum on a low setting with a soft-brush attachment for accumulated dust. Avoid wet cleaning — moisture can affect the rust patina.

    FAQ

Why does the current product appear lighter than some images? +

Following production refinements, the rust patina now appears slightly lighter and brighter than in older catalog photographs. The reference image above represents the current production finish. Tonal variation from piece to piece is normal — this is a hand-aged patina, not a uniform factory paint.

What size should I choose? +

The small (∅ 8.3″) is suitable for hallways, reading nooks, primary-suite vignettes, or clusters of three to five above an island. The medium (∅ 13.8″) is the most versatile size — kitchen islands, dining tables for 2–4 people, or a single lamp above a breakfast nook. The large (∅ 18.9″) is designed for high ceilings, dining tables for 6–10 people, and large open-plan rooms. For islands wider than 60″, plan a row of two or three medium lamps spaced 24–30″ center to center.

Can I group multiple Lanister lamps together? +

Yes — grouping is the intended application. Mix sizes for visual interest, or hang multiple lamps of the same size at staggered heights. Leave 30–50 cm of horizontal space between lamps and use separate ceiling outlets, or a multi-port cluster canopy for a single-junction installation.

Which bulb do you recommend? +

Warm-white 2700K LED E26 / E27 medium-base bulb, 4–8W (≤ 60W incandescent equivalent). Vintage Edison filament bulbs look particularly good — the visible filament casts patterned shadows through the mesh. Avoid cool-white or daylight bulbs; they look out of place against the rust patina.

Can the suspension cord be shortened? +

Yes. The 59″ / 150 cm cord can be shortened on site during installation — your electrician can cut it to the desired drop length to suit your ceiling.

    Is the lamp dimmable? +

Yes — pair a dimmable LED bulb with a TRIAC wall dimmer (Lutron Caséta, Diva, and standard forward-phase dimmers all work). The lamp itself has no built-in dimmer; control is at the wall switch.

How do I clean the mesh shade? +

Gently dust with a soft brush or feather duster. For dust accumulated inside the mesh, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft-brush attachment on a low setting. Do not use water, glass cleaner, or any liquid — moisture can affect the rust patina and accelerate uneven aging.

Suitable for hospitality and commercial projects? +

Yes — hospitality-grade quality. The hand-worked iron construction and hand-applied aged patina suit luxury hotel suites, private restaurants, exclusive club lounges, and industrial-loft or farmhouse residential projects.
