Installation
- Hardwired wall installation — a licensed electrician is recommended.
- Install in a protected location: covered porch, veranda, awning, gazebo, or covered entryway. Avoid locations exposed to direct rain or sprinkler spray.
- All mounting hardware is included. Fits a standard wall box.
- Ensure that the power circuit is 110V AC. Do not connect to a 12V low-voltage lighting transformer.
- Use a G4 bi-pin LED bulb rated for 110V AC — sold separately.
- Seal the mounting penetrations with exterior-grade silicone to prevent moisture from entering the wall plate.
FAQ
Will the brass develop a patina over time? +
Yes — solid brass naturally develops a deeper, aged patina over time, especially in humid or protected coastal environments. This is part of the Hardy Island Collection’s design intent. If you prefer a stable, unchanging finish, choose Matte Black or Silver.
Can I use it with my 12V outdoor lighting system? +
No. The Hardy operates only on 110V AC. Connecting it to a 12V low-voltage landscape transformer will not work and could damage the fixture. If you need a 12V option, please look at another fixture in our outdoor range.
Which bulb should I use? +
A G4 bi-pin LED bulb rated for 110V AC. We recommend a warm white LED (2700K) at 2–3W for ambient and pathway-appropriate lighting. Avoid 12V G4 bulbs — they will not work with this fixture.
Can I install it in a completely exposed outdoor location? +
No. The Hardy is designed for protected outdoor use — covered porches, verandas, awnings, pergolas with solid roofs, gazebos, or covered entrances. Avoid locations where the lamp would be exposed to direct rain, sprinklers, or standing water. The brass housing handles humidity, breezes, and salty air, but it is not designed for direct precipitation.
Where does the Hardy work best given its size? +
With its compact 10 cm height, the Hardy is ideal for: accent lighting along pathways (mounted low on the wall), framing entry doors as a pair, marker lighting along stairs, punctuating garden walls, or lining a fence. It is not intended to be a primary porch light.
How should I care for the finish? +
Gently clean with a soft, dry cloth. For coastal locations, occasional cleaning with a slightly damp cloth removes salt residue. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes — they will remove the patina or matte finish. Brass finishes are designed to age naturally; this is not a defect.
